Princes Quay Christmas TV Commercial

Classlane (film and television company) contacted Surrect to help with creating some 3D Graphics for a TV spot for Princes Quay Christmas publicity. We were asked to create 3D Christmas baubles which would have the 13 main shops animated and composited in to the live action footage.

We were on shoot location inside Santa’s grotto (somewhere in Wakefield) to help make sure the shots were within the brief and take some photos - which would make up the HDRI photo we use to add reflections and lighting in to the 3D scene.

After modelling and creation of the Christmas baubles and textures when then needed to track the live action plate, which gives us the angles, camera setup and movements – which are then replaced with little x’s when then line up our 3D models and extra shapes to make sure we are casting shadows that may cast in the “real world”.

We then created the textures for the animated logos and added these to the baubles textures! A few test renders and then we let the renders go...here are a few photos and test renders...The advert is airing on ITV during Coronation Street and "This Morning" - right up until Christmas eve, so hope you catch it! ...here is the online version!

The Talks Music Video

Surrect helped "The Talks" a Hull band deliver to great videos to the world of music. The first video "Picture this" - we organised and produced the complete video, it was based on the popularity of karaoke but the downside of the inervability of a bands track ending up being sung in a dark ally pub.

The video was broken down into two sections, first part was filmed at RD&D photography studio on a fantastic white backdrop - and enough space for our 6 meter boom/jip to capture some great shoots of the band playing the "Picture This" tune. This part of the video will be the karaoke part we composed the words to the song over this sequence along with making the footage appear on a TV.

The second part of the video was filmed in the "Queens Head Pub" on Princes Ave in Hull, this was the setting for the karaoke sequence, showing random people singing there hits song. A select few fans and friends were invited to help and star in the making of the video - as you can see a lot of fun was had by all.

"Killer Sinner" the second of the music videos we helped them with was filmed and edited by the band themselves, we were asked to add some post-production - the flares, tweaks and colour correction - along with making sure both music videos were prepared and converted to DigiBeta for distribution to the music channels.
